The first step is to ensure your face is clean and free of any residue. “It’s really important for me to take off any excess dirt, any excess oil, any excess makeup from the day before,” says Ta as he wipes a Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Face Wipe on the model’s face. “This allows you to really clean the skin so makeup can lay really beautifully and smoothly onto the skin.”
Once the model’s face is clean, it’s time for moisturizer. This is a super important step when it comes to makeup application, because, as Ta explains, “by putting on moisturizer, it’s going to allow your foundation or your concealer to really just melt into your skin so then it doesn’t look like you are wearing foundation.”
For his model’s beauty routine, Ta uses Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Gel-Cream Face Moisturizer, because he claims it has “a really lightweight finish, so then everything else can just glide really smoothly onto the skin.”
But moisturizer isn’t just for your face. Ta believes it’s an important step for the lips as well. He grabs one of his own products, the Patrick Ta Major Glow Softening Lip Masque, and applies it to the model’s lips using the Patrick Ta Lip Brush. “I always like to put on a lip balm before I start the whole entire makeup application because I really want to give the lips a chance to soak in the moisture before I put on lipstick at the very end,” Ta explains.
Of course, glowing dewy skin is something almost everyone is after when it comes to makeup application. Ta says for a glowy look, a good hyaluronic acid is key. He uses Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Serum and applies it onto the high points of the model’s cheekbones to give a shinier appearance.
Ta finishes the skincare prep process with a few spritzes of the Patrick Ta Major Glow Dewy Milk Mist, and his model is moisturized and ready for makeup application!
