Skip the coffee jitters and try Rad Foods’ nutritious morning beverage alternative

In The Know is proud to celebrate Pride Month. During this month, our team will highlight a wide range of LGBTQIA+ owned brands. We encourage you to support today and always.

There are pros and cons to drinking coffee every morning. However, while some people feel they need a kick of caffeine to start the day, it can also cause jitters, shakiness, an increased heart rate and even sleepless nights. Yeah, those are definitely some cons.

If you’re looking for a delicious morning drink alternative, look no further than Rad Foods. The LGBTQIA+ woman-owned brand sells two types of plant-based beverages: Rad Roast and Rad Cocoa.

The brand calls Rad Roast its “coffee alternative,” and it’s made with roasted chicory, dandelion, cinnamon, cacao and lion’s mane and reishi mushrooms. (It has a very slight amount of caffeine from the cacao.) The result is a nutrient-dense, rich and tasty drink that supports your liver, digestion and immune system.

Rad Cocoa, you can probably guess from the name, is like hot chocolate. It’s cane sugar-free and only lightly sweetened with coconut sugar. It’s also pretty nutrient-dense, with ingredients like activated reishi and turkey tail mushroom powders and cinnamon.

Rad Foods was founded in Portland, Oregon by a woman who was formerly a self-proclaimed coffee lover. However, she writes on her site, “My body couldn’t take the caffeine and acidity and all the highs and lows. Honestly, I was heartbroken. I had to come up with an alternative. Rad Roast is a robust morning beverage created to taste great, and help with sustained energy without all the jitters!”

If you like the routine of brewing coffee every morning but are looking for an alternative that will give you sustained energy and not a huge jolt, give Rad Foods a try. Both beverages can be steeped, brewed or made in a French press — and both taste incredible.
