Rap music is reigning over 2020’s Billboard Hot 100

In The Know and Complex News have come together to bring you the latest news in hip hop music and culture.

The rap genre is dominating the Billboard Hot 100 charts so far in 2020. Out of the 14 artists featured in the Hot 100 ranking, 12 of them are rappers.

Drake just recently dropped two singles — marking his 39th and 40th Hot 100 top 10 hits and breaking the record, previously held by Madonna, for most Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits ever.

But right now, it’s Lil Uzi Vert who leads the pack with 36 singles on the charts right now, most of them from his album “Eternal Atake.” Lil Baby comes in a close second with 30 charted singles.

DaBaby snagged the No. 3 spot with 27 tracks, including his latest hit, “Rockstar.”

The late Juice WRLD, whose posthumous album “Legends Never Die” came out in June, has 25 singles on the charts, 17 of which are from the new album. Juice WRLD is followed Pop Smoke who has 22 singles from his highly anticipated posthumous album “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon,” released in July.

Needless to say, rap’s impact on one of music’s most intense years is indisputable.
