Woman offends boyfriend when she asks him not to bring his kids to Christmas dinner: ‘He didn’t take my suggestion well’

A woman wants her boyfriend to leave his kids with their mom for Christmas.

She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum to weigh in. Her boyfriend of 11 months previously met her family, but this will be his first Christmas with them. He has two children from a previous relationship and has them for this holiday this year.

She suggested he leave the kids with their mom to avoid making the situation too stressful. But her input offended him.

“He got offended and took it as in I was hiding/excluding his kids from my family,” she wrote. “But I explained not wanting to expose the kids to any awkward moment.”

This only made him upset. He told her he felt sad for his kids.

“We began to argue and he didn’t take my suggestion well,” she explained. “I told him it was just a suggestion but he told me to stop trying to ‘justify’ my actions.”

Redditors felt she was driving a wedge between her boyfriend and his kids.

“Kids will always, and should always come first,” a user wrote

“A parent and their children should always be considered a package deal,” another said

“This is how many relationships between fathers and their children start breaking down. Don’t be that catalyst,” a person commented
