Husband refuses to give stay-at-home mom an extra hour of sleep: ‘Give her a night off’

A husband is being called out for not giving his wife an extra hour of sleep.

He asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum to weigh in. His wife works part-time, and he works full-time and attends school one day a week. She is a stay-at-home mom otherwise and does all of the household duties while he is the breadwinner.

“Honestly, we are both living our dream life and my wife does an absolutely spectacular job taking care of me and our little one,” he wrote.

They have a 6-month-old baby and share baby duty on weekends. He’s a deep sleeper, while his wife struggles with insomnia. Since she breastfeeds, she usually is on baby duty for the night.

“Recently my wife has been asking me to wake up with the baby both days on the weekends so she can get an extra hour of sleep,” he wrote

But he doesn’t want to wake up at 7 a.m. He wants to have the extra hour of sleep. The issue is that she can’t sleep during the day, but he can just take a nap during the day.

“I don’t want to spend my off time napping, I want to play videogames and chill out,” he explained

Redditors thought the husband was being unfair.

“You want a morning off, give her a night off,” someone wrote

“She works PT, takes care of baby, has to do all the housework, has to do all of the night feedings, can’t sleep…. but sure, you’d like an hour,” another said

“You get a complete full night uninterrupted sleep because you don’t wake up (deep sleep, whatever) to feed/change your child and you still want more sleep?” a person commented
