Woman is accused of being a ‘horrible mother’ for letting her son pee on a tree: ‘Is this not normal?’

A woman isn’t sure if she did the right thing when her son had to go to the bathroom during a hike.

She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum to weigh in. She went for a walk on a nature trail with her dog and her two children. But when she let her son take a whiz on a tree, a stranger became furious.

“My 4-year-old son told me he had to pee, so I told him to pee into the woods,” she explained. “I didn’t tell him to actually walk into the woods out of view, because that’s dangerous.”

When he began to pee, another woman walking her dog showed up.

“She started yelling at me to ‘get my kid!’ I told her he just needed to pee,” the Reddit poster said. “She told me that was completely inappropriate. I pointed to her dog and made a ‘really’ face. She said that’s different.”

The mom felt going off the trail was too dangerous for her son, and there weren’t any bathrooms around.

“She called me a horrible mother, which hurt my feelings. When nature calls… you know. Is this not normal? It’s normal to me,” she wrote

Redditors thought the mom made a harmless decision.

“You’re a smart mother for realizing the dangers of going off trail,” a user said

“I’m a woman and if I gotta go with no available bathroom, I pop a squat somewhere out of view. This lady needs to chill out,” a person wrote

“Doesn’t matter if it’s human pee or animal pee it’s literally the same,” another commented
