Eclectic 23-year-old rapper Rico Nasty is still basking in the glow of her debut album Nightmare Vacation

The lockdown hasn’t slowed the booked and busy artist down. She performed her recent single “OHFR?” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January, snagged the coveted role of Savage X Fenty ambassador and launched a makeup collab with Il Makiage in 2020.

Rico gave In The Know a peek at her Fenty-obsessed five-step skincare routine.

Step 1: Cleanse

Rico applied the Fenty Skin Remove-It-All Cleanser onto dry skin since too much water tends to dry her out. She removed the cleanser with a damp cloth instead of drenching her skin.

“Right now I don’t have any makeup but if I had on makeup this is what I would be using to wash it off,” Rico said

Step 2: Lip Mask

She grabbed her tube of the Bite Agave + Intensive Lip Mask.

“The first time I tried this, I got it as a tester and it was so good I just kept using it ever since then. This has been in my routine for probably like a year now,” she said. “I’ve bought like five of these.”

Step 3: Tone

Rico poured the Fenty Skin Fat Water onto her hands and pressed it into her skin with her palms.

“I love the Fat Water because I get to smack myself when I put it on,” Rico said. “I’ve always had sensitive skin.”

Step 4: Sunscreen

She opted for the Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Sunscreen. Rico took her time massaging the product into her skiin. She lamented that she wished she knew about facial massages sooner — it’s a trick she learned from makeup artists on set.

“I was definitely one of those people that was like, ‘I don’t get sunburned so why would I have to wear sunscreen?'” she said. “Sunscreen definitely became like an everyday part of my routine very, very young because I used to get sunspots.”

Step 5: Primer

Rico prefers the Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas for heavy stage makeup because it lasts all day.

“This really became one of the things I used over quarantine that I fell in love with,” she said of the Tatcha primer.

But on days where she wears light makeup like this one, she swears by the Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil. She used the roller to swipe the oil on her face.

“It’s three things I feel like are the key to flawless skin. Number one is drinking water. Just because you put on a lot of expensive products does not mean that your skin is automatically going to be OK,” she said.

Her second piece of advice was, “Get some rest, if you’re not getting any sleep, you’re going to sleep at three o’clock in the morning every night you’re gonna have bags under your eyes.”

But her third rule was all about maintaining positive energy.

“The third rule is no f*** boys,” she half-joked. “I feel as though staying away from negative people really does help. It doesn’t matter how expensive your skincare is if you got bad vibes around you that s*** is gonna rub off on your motherf***ing skin.”
