New York City commuters got to celebrate Thanksgiving early with a full feast on the subway.
The moving Thanksgiving dinner was served to New Yorkers on a Brooklyn-bound train on Sunday evening. Anyone who boarded the train was given a plate. There was turkey, collard greens, cornbread, cider and even decorations on the decked out dinner table in the middle of the train.
Videos of the meal are making the rounds on social media.
“Thanksgiving in NYC is truly something else,” NBC News reporter Kalhan Rosenblatt wrote on Twitter along with a video of the meal in full swing.
People had mixed reactions on the moveable feast. Some were concerned about the cleanliness of having dinner on the train, with one person calling the gesture “kind, but gross.”
However, most people were impressed with the effort it took to make a public Thanksgiving happen.
