Rihanna ran into the most unexpected ‘legend’ during a recent flight

Next time you’re weighing whether to spring for a first class ticket, consider this: You could end up palling around with some impressive seat mates.

As legendary singer Paul McCartney boarded his flight this holiday weekend, he was caught on video by another famous face: “I’m about to put you on blast, Mr. McCartney,” a voice says. “How are you on my flight?”

The social media videographer was none other than Rihanna, who McCartney no doubt recognized — in addition to both being major celebrities, they’ve also collaborated on music — but he played dumb, asking, “Who is this filming me?”

Rihanna joined in on the bit, adding, ”Who is this peasant recording this legend?”

She then posted the exchange on her Instagram story, captioning it “RihUnion.”

It’s not clear where McCartney, 77, and 31-year-old Rihanna were headed, but they were reportedly spotted together at Heathrow Airport in London on either the front or back end of their journey.

McCartney collaborated with Rihanna on “FourFiveSeconds,” which also features vocals from Kanye West. The three performed the song together at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

Notably enough, the nearly five-year-old song is one of Rihanna’s more recent releases, given that her last album dropped back in 2016. Fans have eagerly anticipated her return to music, and the wait will soon be over: Rumors have swirled for months that she’ll finally release her ninth album in December 2019.

“I like to look at it as a reggae-inspired or reggae-infused album,” she told Vogue in October. “It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks.”
