A Vine trend has come back from the dead to haunt TikTok

TikTokers are running through the six with their woes. An old Drake meme from Vine is experiencing a resurgence on social media. Here’s everything you need to know about the throwback trend.

On Feb. 13, 2015, Drake released the album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. The track “Know Yourself” would soon spawn a viral Vine meme. Now, thanks to a mashup with a scene from SpongeBob SquarePants TikTokers are picking up right where Vine left off.

Running through the six with my woes” on Vine

In 2015, people began posting Vine videos scored to “Know Yourself.” The part used from the song included the lyrics, “Running through the six with my woes.” The Vines showed people running as the snippet of the song played, often in a comedic way.

One of the more popular Vines showed a scene from Degrassi: The Next Generation where Drake’s character Jimmy ran from a school shooter.

The “Know Yourself” Krusty Krab Remix

TikTokers began to pick up the meme in 2019 after the user @_adrlen uploaded a remix of “Know Yourself” featuring dialogue from an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. The sound has since been used in over 533,000 videos.

That same year influencer Corey Scherer went viral for a dance video he did using @_adrlen’s remix.

In 2020, @ondreazlopez racked up over 8 million views with his rendition of the “Know Yourself” dance.

The “Deep Realization” TikTok trend

In July 2021, the Drake meme spawned the hashtag #DeepRealization on TikTok. For this version of the trend, people lip-sync to “Know Yourself” to express their cathartic moments.

Dr. Leslie Gonzalez realized, “I have one Bachelor’s degree, two Master’s, one Doctorate and now I’m Dr. Gonzalez” and was pretty impressed with herself.

But not all realizations were positive. The user @nateeb came to the conclusion that he’s single “and talk to absolutely nobody at all.”

Meanwhile, Rachel Ballinger recalled the time she was “with a man for eight years and he never once had a job.”
