Sangrita, not to be confused with sangria, is a traditional Mexican mix of fruit juices and hot sauce that’s served as a chaser to high-end tequila. Although you can take it like a follow-up shot to your liquor, it’s actually meant to be sipped. Take one sip of tequila, one sip of sangrita, one sip of tequila, one sip of sangrita — you get the point. Point is, try this sangrita recipe this weekend.

  • 2 ounces tequila

For sangrita:

  • 2 ounces fresh orange juice
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces tomato juice
  • 3 dashes hot sauce
  • 2 slices jalapeño pepper (optional)

  1. Fill two shot glasss with the tequila of your choice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, mix the sangrita ingredients and shake well with ice.
  3. Strain the sangrita into two separate shot glass and add a slice of jalapeño.
  4. To drink, begin with the tequila shot and then drink the sangrita mix. Cheers!
