What does ‘sheesh’ mean on TikTok? The sing-songy sound is surprisingly uplifting

There’s a “sheesh” meme taking over TikTok and it looks like tons of fun.

While “sheesh” is already a real word in the dictionary and you’ve probably heard Kermit the Frog say it on numerous occasions, it’s been given new life on TikTok. Not to mention, it has a very different pronunciation.

What is the “sheesh” meme on TikTok?

Sheesh is an expression used to show disbelief or exasperation. It usually means the former on TikTok. But it’s basically used to hype people up.

Unlike Kermit’s incensed and irked “sheesh” this one is a bit goofier. It’s a long drawn out “sheeeeeeesh” with much emphasis on the vowels.

Most of the “sheesh” memes include audio originated by @meetjulio where it sounds like a collective of people playfully chanting “sheeeeesh” at a slimy frog.

The hashtag #sheesh currently has 431 million views.

Here are some examples of the “sheesh” meme on TikTok:

A skateboarding traffic cone that caught some major air was dubbed “cony hawk” in one of @escotim’s “sheesh” videos.

The future mom @star4x captioned her “sheesh” video: “When the guys hype me after having my baby.” Then she promptly dropped her (fake) baby
