Simone Johnson, The Rock’s daughter, enters WWE training

Like father, like daughter.

Simone Johnson, the 18-year-old daughter of 10-time WWE world champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has begun training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla., the company announced on Feb. 10.

The teen follows in the footsteps of her father, as well as her great-grandfather and grandfather — WWE Hall of Famers “High Chief” Peter Maivia and Rocky Johnson — and is set to become the first fourth-generation star in WWE history.

Johnson took to Instagram to express her excitement following the announcement, writing that she was “humbled” to continue the family tradition in wrestling, a sport she first became enamored with as a child.

“To the little girl who fell in love with wrestling & said ‘this will be my life one day’, this is for you,” she said. “I’m humbled, grateful & ready to work. Let’s do this.”

Her father also took to social media to congratulate hits first-born daughter on her new contract.

“Dreams ain’t just for dreamers,” The Rock wrote. “Carry our family name proudly, but your road will always be yours to create, earn & own.”

“So proud. Live your dream. Let’s work,” he added.

Johnson’s mother, bodybuilder Dany Garcia, shared a touching message as well, congratulating her daughter on “living your dream.”

“It’s been the blessing of my life to watch you grow,” she wrote. “While the legacy of the family may be your platform, your future will be uniquely yours to earn. Congrats my love.”

Johnson will join a team of new WWE talent led by Head Coach Matt Bloom and Assistant Head Coach Sara Amato, both of whom expressed excitement over her potential.

“Simone knows she has a lot to learn,” said Bloom. “She’s hungry to learn and picks the coaches’ minds, and the veteran Superstars’, as well. She’s not going to rest on her laurels. It’s been a short time, but she’s been crushing it.”

“Simone is a wonderful girl,” Amato added. “She’s like a sponge, it’s pretty amazing. She knows what it takes to succeed and all the hard work and sacrifice that goes into it. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.”

Johnson previously expressed her love of wrestling in a November 2017 interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s a sport that is unlike anything else in the world. There’s just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that’s so admirable,” she said at the time. “It’s definitely something I’ve thought about and want to pursue.”
