In the series $1K Dream Room, host Will Taylor uses a modest budget of $1,000 to turn drab spaces into dream apartments.

In this episode of $1K Dream Room, Will Taylor of Bright Bazaar is on a mission to help Evy in Harlem, New York, revamp her small apartment bedroom. With just one day and only a $1,000 budget, Taylor completely transforms Evy’s space. You can see the entire makeover from start to finish in the video above.

Evy not only uses her bedroom to decompress every day but also to focus on her writing and reading. She emphasized the importance of having both a space she can be productive in, but also have a little bit of fun. Evy’s personal style is full of color and patterns, which Taylor decides should be a part of her bedroom redesign.

Evy also mentions she’s in need of more storage and wants the overall design to be more cohesive. Luckily, Taylor is all about the motto, “even if you have a small room, you don’t have to go small in style.”

It’s a rental apartment, so paint and wall paper can’t be used on the walls. But to freshen up the space, Taylor uses temporary wallpaper to liven up a plain white IKEA bookcase, which is an affordable and doable option for adding more texture to any room.

To add more storage, Taylor utilizes under-the-bed storage boxes. He also adds in pops of warm color and natural textures with a DIY headboard, wall art and cozy bedding. The final result is a gorgeous oasis.
