When it comes to the details of your wedding ceremony, everyone has a different vision. Some couples choose to go the traditional route, walking down the aisle to “Here Comes the Bride” and reading time-honored wedding vows.
But other couples would rather put their own unique twist on the day with memorable little touches that mean something to them, even if no one else “gets it.”
That’s precisely what one couple on TikTok apparently did when the bride recently walked down the aisle. Instead of walking towards her groom as a standard processional played, she walked in to the vocal stylings of SpongeBob SquarePants.
Alyssa Marie (@misspinkiemarie) admitted that in the days leading up to her wedding, everyone around her questioned whether or not she really wanted to walk down the aisle to SpongeBob. But, sticking to her guns, she kept insisting that, yes, she did.
“almost a year later and still #noregrets,” the TikToker wrote in her post caption.
In the video, Alyssa walks down the aisle with her dad as a song from the Krusty Krab Training Video plays overhead. At the same time, her husband-to-be starts laughing (and then getting emotional) as she approaches.
Once she makes it to the end of the aisle, all of the wedding guests β including the groom β applaud her arrival, and just as the video comes to an end, the couple turns to the officiant to begin the ceremony.
While walking down the aisle to SpongeBob might not be for everyone, the video has actually been a big hit on TikTok, especially with millennials who grew up watching the beloved cartoon as kids.
“I love our GENERATION,” one person commented.
“This is the best!” said someone else, who loved that her husband was “losing it” as Alyssa walked down the aisle.
One person did say that she “should have done a LOOOOONG walk with the full version” of the song, but most people simply loved how it all came together.
In fact, one bride and fellow SpongeBob fan actually wished she had thought of this herself.
“Honestly – iconic,” she wrote in the comments. “I thought I had no regrets from my wedding but not using this sound was it.”
While Alyssa did go on to share other moments from her unique wedding in other TikToks, none could really compare to the SpongeBob entrance. To date, the video has racked up 3.2 million views and nearly 4,000 comments from people who can’t seem to get enough of it.
