A repetitive song about Spongebob is blowing up on TikTok

By now SpongeBob SquarePants has reached icon status in pop culture.

The Nickelodeon animated series has been referenced to death on social media for at least the past decade. The beloved adventures of SpongeBob and Patrick continue to live on via TikTok. And now it’s responsible for yet another meme that’s just as farcical and ironic as the show.

The “SpongeBob SpongeBob Patrick Patrick” trend on TikTok explained

On August 5, YouTuber Sawndir created a fan video where each character on SpongeBob SquarePants is introduced to the tune of Blink 182’s “All The Small Things.”

Then in September, TikToker @boyd_skyler posted a video where he lined up all of his SpongeBob figurines and said their names and catchphrases as he came across them.

“Jellyfishing. Jellyfishing. SpongeBob? SpongeBob? Texas. Texas. Texas. Mr. Squidward. Mr. Squidward. Mr. Squidward. SpongeBob. SpongeBob. SpongeBob. The formula. The formula. The formula. The formula. The formula. The formula. SpongeBob. Meow. Meow. Meow. The Fortnite cube, Kevin,” the TikToker said in the video.

In October, YouTuber MachoShacho combined Sawndir’s audio and @boyd_skyler’s video to create a new sound altogether.

By November, TikToker @sewerzi removed the music from MachoShacho’s sound and reduced it to Sawndir saying, “SpongeBob, SpongeBob, Patrick, Patrick, Sandy, Sandy, Mr. Crab, Mr. Crab. Mr. Crab, Squidward.”

User @robloxexploitfling made a Roblox version of the meme featuring all of the figurines in CGI.

Decided To Hop In To The Trend

TikToker @sonicbooster82 used stickers of the cartoon characters to do the trend

Others used GIFs sent in their phone chats to line up all the characters in the order of the song like @imradnotsad
