Are TikTok’s viral “taco pickles” actually worth making?
After a few minutes on the app, the answer seems like a resounding yes. TikTok is full of videos where users make, sample and then sing the praises of this bizarre food combo.
The basic formula is simple: Dill pickles plus taco seasoning equals a snack of legendary proportions. Some TikTok users are acting like this combo somehow tastes even better than tacos or pickles on their own.
But after our experience taste-testing some other viral pickle flavors (namely, Kool-Aid pickles), the producers at In The Know were skeptical. Honestly, this combo seems pretty gross.

Still, there’s only one way to know for sure. To see what happened when we made our own taco pickles, watch the video above or keep reading.
How to make taco pickles
The recipe here couldn’t be simpler. This is what you’ll need:
- 1 large jar of store-bought dill pickles
- 1 packet of taco seasoning
To start, open your pickle jar and pour out a few tablespoons of the juice. Then, pour in your taco seasoning, seal the cap and gave the jar a big shake. Once the taco seasoning is fully mixed into the pickle juice, refrigerate the whole thing for a day.
And that’s it! After a day, your taco pickles should be ready to try. When eating ours, we were thoroughly impressed. Although this combo might sound gross at first, it’s actually the perfect mix of salty, savory flavors. The taco seasoning really plays off the vinegar in the pickle juice, making a zestier flavor that still seems to meet your expectations for a pickle.
To top it all off, these things couldn’t be easier to make. Unlike so many viral recipes, taco pickles give a big reward for such a small amount of work. We’ll definitely be making these again.
