Who is Tati Mitchell?
The Detroit native started making videos after seeing funny reaction TikToks on her “For You” page.
“I love to make people laugh, and when I saw all these hilarious reactions, I was left screaming! They’re all so funny. So I wanted to take my shot at it,” Mitchell told BuzzFeed.
Mitchell definitely forged her path in TikTok history. She is the originator of the popular TikTok sound, “He has no lips! How will he get a kiss kiss? Very ugly, no kiss for him!”
She was also a member of House of US, a TikTok collective formed to encourage users to vote.
Mitchell blew up on TikTok after collabing regularly with Devin Caherly.
If you’re regularly on TikTok, you probably know Mitchell from her videos with fellow content creator Devin Caherly. The two started working together organically after Mitchell dueted one of his videos.
“It’s hilarious; I started off just being like, ‘Let me duet this boy, he has funny videos!’ And then people kept tagging me in his videos, and then he started reacting to my videos and going along with it,” Mitchell told BuzzFeed.
When Mitchell and Caherly started collaborating regularly, they took on the name “Tevin” amongst fans. One of their most popular videos together is from when Caherly flew Mitchell from Detroit to New Jersey to see him in person in July 2020.
The duo’s relationship budded into an alleged romance that led to some serious online drama. (It’s unclear whether the relationship was real or just for views, but fans had fun with it either way.)
As the two built their audiences, things started to get rocky. Today, though, the two still seem to be friends, and they will often duet each other’s videos and leave flirty comments for each other.
Mitchell threatened to leave TikTok in September, but eventually came back.
In September 2020, Mitchell claimed that TikTok had become toxic and said she might quit.
“I love all of my loyal supporters, but the amount of hate TikTokers received is unbelievable. Literally affects our mental health so bad,” Mitchell wrote. “I’ll be moving my platform over to my YouTube channel where I’ll be posting every week. TikTok is extremely toxic I literally can’t take it anymore.”
Meanwhile, Mitchell and Caherly were engaged in a public feud where they accused each other of infidelity.
Mitchell, however, didn’t quit TikTok and she addressed her issues with Caherly the best way she knew how: with humor.
