An embarrassing tattoo fail is making the rounds on TikTok — with the woman who got it saying she’s had to wear long-sleeve shirts for the past year to cover it up.
“I won,” Leah Holland said in her TikTok response to Nic’s prompt. “I got this tattoo — I’d wanted it for a couple of years, it basically means like, be true to yourself and real, and not pretending to be something you’re not.”

It seems like a pretty straightforward reason to get a tattoo. However, the timing and wording could not have been worse.
“I got this March 4, 2020,” she said, pulling up her sweatshirt sleeve. “It says, ‘Courageously and radically refuse to wear a mask.'”
March 4, 2020, was around the time the U.S. started implementing lockdown rules and asking citizens to wear masks in public spaces. With horror, Holland realized her new tattoo, which she’d been waiting years to get, now had an entirely different meaning.
“That didn’t age well,” one user replied.
“Do you think the artist looked back and laughed himself to sleep knowing he gave that to you?” another asked.
“You do win, that is the most unfortunate timing,” someone joked.
One commenter asked Holland if people think she’s an anti-masker because of the tattoo.
“I wore long sleeves all last year so no one would see it,” she answered.
