Taylor Swift has been keeping busy re-recording her hit albums, performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and basking in the glory of her Grammy-winning album Folklore. Now the pop star is going viral on Instagram Reels thanks to a seven-year-old Tumblr post.
Swift created a video on Reels to pay homage to a 2014 Tumblr post she wrote about how much she loves the fall. The earnest celebration of all things fall was totally in line with the saccharine online personal essays that were popular at the time. It was also a defense of things considered “basic.”
“And hats and scarves and kneesocks and wearing tights for the first time in months,” Swift wrote in 2014. “And when the mornings are all chilly and you can see your breath and draw little pictures on foggy windows and plaid stuff and ANKLE BOOTs and not caring when people make fun of pumpkin-flavored stuff cause you LOVE IT and are happy it’s all the rage and people who dress their dogs in costumes on Halloween and fires in fireplaces and maroon/hunter green/mustard yellow color combos and baking your first fall batch of cookies but you put too much cinnamon in it because you’re TOO EXCITED BECAUSE IT’S FALL.”
Now people are recreating their own version of Taylor’s homage to fall on Instagram Reels.
The viral clip even made its way to TikTok where the meme continued. TikToker @mylitleendinburgh wrote, “A blustery day in Edinburg. My goodness, I do love autumn!” The clip showed a hauntingly beautiful castle.
