These mail-order steaks are some of the best I’ve ever tasted — now, I’m sending them as holiday gifts

Sure, you can get steak at the grocery store, but these Certified Piedmontese steaks don’t even compare to what you’ll find at your local butcher.

Certified Piedmontese offers rare Italian-heritage Piedmontese beef. According to the brand’s website, it “ensures traceability, environmental sustainability, humane animal handling and responsible resource management at every step.” The cattle are raised on family ranches across the midwest, and they’re never given antibiotics, steroids or hormones.

Additionally, the cattle are grass-fed. In turn, the meat produced is leaner and contains fewer calories and saturated fat than standard beef. Plus, according to the brand, it has five times the omega-3 fatty acids and double the CLA of grain-fed beef.

That said, I tried it, and this beef is incredibly tender. A sirloin tastes comparable to regular store-bought filet mignon. My dad is a weekly steak eater and said these were the best steaks he’s ever had — they’re so tender, they’re like butter. With that said, I’m sending them as holiday gifts to some of my family members this year. Good steaks aren’t a common gift, but they’re practical, useful and definitely memorable — especially if they’re Certified Piedmontese.

The company sells a range of beef products, but the steaks are a standout for me. Right now, you can check out the CP Holiday Gift Guide to shop deals on beef-filled gift boxes, too. For example, the Sugarplum Collection offers four 8-ounce sirloin filets for only $50 — at a 15% discount. The Nutcracker Collection includes two 16-ounce beef steak tips, three 6-ounce sirloin filets and four 16-ounce packages of ground beef for $75, which is a 30% discount.

You can order your steaks now and have them delivered toward the end of the month as well. Don’t tell my dad, but he’s getting steaks for his birthday on New Year’s Eve.
