After the CDC officially recommended that all Americans wear face masks due to current events, demand has skyrocketed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently shared that people should be “wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.”
It’s important to note that a cloth face mask will not protect you from getting viruses, although the CDC explains it may prevent spreading the virus if you have to leave the house. “CDC is additionally advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.”
With the devastating shortage of N95 medical masks, it’s crucial that the public saves the surgical masks for our frontline healthcare workers, and opts for fabric masks while still taking proper safety precautions.
LookHUMAN, an online retailer that stocks thousands of unique and fun designs, has created an abundance of printed fabric face masks. They’re made from hand-sewn cloth and feature an ergonomic fit. The fabric masks do not come with a disposable face mask insert and are meant to be worn alone as a cloth mask or as a decorative covering for a surgical mask. They also have elastic ear loops, as followed by the CDC guidelines on what cloth face coverings should include.
