This ‘extreme minimalist’ lives inside his Tesla

Welcome to Extreme Minimalists, which shares the stories of individuals who live on less – from a family of four living in a van to a woman who lives with absolutely zero furniture!

Nico Nevolo’s drastic lifestyle change started with one, simple idea.

“I was just thinking about [how] we just need somewhere to sleep,” he told In The Know. “That’s all we need. And that’s when I decided, well I can do that in a car.”

Now, that’s all Nevolo has. Today, he lives inside his car, a Tesla that he’s nicknamed “Lucy.” Nevolo sleeps in the trunk and travels full-time, spending as much time as he wants on the road.

He works as a rideshare driver and stores a mattress at the bottom of his car, which he places on top of his reclined seats in order to sleep. The few clothes he does own are stored in the trunk of his car. It’s a lifestyle he believes will catch on in the years to come.

“As electric vehicles get more affordable, which they absolutely are, this will become more and more popular,” he predicted. “It’s cheaper than gasoline and you can power everything with it.”

Nevolo added that while he’s not sure how long he’ll keep up this lifestyle, his ultimate goal is to inspire others to follow suit.

“My hope for the future is that people are driving electric vehicles,” he said. “That’s my biggest mission in life — to get more people inside electric vehicles.”
