The perfect festive treat, this decadent cocktail features an assortment of flavorful spices that make each sip feel like a warm embrace. If you’re looking for a new spin on an old favorite, try this buttered apple cider hot toddy!


  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • ⅛ tsp ground allspice
  • 8 oz Bourbon
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • ⅛ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 cinnamon sticks



  1. Start by using a fork to combine the unsalted butter and brown sugar in a small bowl. 
  1. Pour apple cider into a saucepan over a stovetop and bring to a boil. 
  1. Add the butter and brown sugar mixture to the boiling apple cider, followed by ground allspice and ground cinnamon, then whisk together until combined. 
  1. After removing the cider mixture from the heat, use a ladle to transfer it to glass coffee mugs, then pour 4 oz of Bourbon into each glass
  1. Top each beverage with whipped cream and ground nutmeg before garnishing with a round apple slice and a cinnamon stick.
