This guy built a squirrel-sized restaurant in his front yard

Michigan’s hottest new restaurant is now taking reservations β€” unfortunately, it takes some fur and a tail to be allowed entry.

That’s because the eatery, designed by Instagrammer James Vreeland, is specifically for squirrels. Vreeland, who lives in the Detroit area, designed the quaint dining spot in his front yard after several weeks stuck at home in quarantine.

And the place is already a hit. Vreeland has shared several videos of the busy restaurant on his Instagram page, which show squirrels rushing in to munch on the tiny morsels of food he sets out for them.

It’s easy to see why the animals are clamoring for a table. Vreeland’s eatery, called Maison de Noix (French for “The Nut House”), has tables, benches, an ornate squirrel statue and even a tiny menu posted at its entrance.

“Figured now was as good a time as any to get into the restaurant game,” Vreeland wrote in the Instagram post announcing his creation.

The restauranteur went on to joke that he’d need special permission from Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in order to keep his patio open amid the state’s strict social distancing laws.

Vreeland has gone on to share multiple time-lapse videos of Maison de Noix, revealing the many squirrels (and birds) that rush in during the “lunch rush’ each day.

Another successful lunch service.
