This is what a $3.5 million house looks like in four U.S. cities

A $3.5 million budget is plenty to find a home with all the necessary accouterments. But you’d be surprised at how limiting even millions of dollars can be depending on where you live. Just how much or how little you can get is totally contingent on the zip code. That’s why In The Know scouted the best listings you can get with $3.5 million in four U.S. cities.

Our first stop is in Brooklyn. The trendy borough is home to parks, culture and this 2,450-square-foot townhouse. Complete with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a private backyard and a garage, you couldn’t ask for more.

Unless you’re aching for a waterfront view. Not many can turn down the easy-living in Malibu. This 3,774-square-foot home has an ocean view from every room and three levels of beachfront terraces. With three bedrooms and two and a half baths, there’s plenty to boast. But it’s the staircase that leads right down to a private cove that will close the deal on this one.

But if you measure your space in acres not feet, try Lettsworth, La. The 5,500-square-foot plantation is on 3.8 acres of land. There’s always room for one more at the massive property. It includes a home with seven bedrooms and eight baths in addition to two guest houses and a saltwater pool.

However, future landlords may want to try the scenic Ashland, Ore. A 10,908-square-foot multi-family apartment complex with 10 bedrooms and 10 baths may be just the opportunity to start renting. The eco-friendly units feature personal decks and landscaped common areas.
