This McDonald’s employee’s TikTok just ‘revealed’ a kitchen secret

A McDonald’s employee is going viral after “revealing” a secret behind one of the chain’s most popular items.

The employee, who goes by marzpire on social media, shared the insider knowledge in a TikTok video posted on April 12.

In it, she briefly shows her followers the reasoning behind the spoons served with the chain’s McFlurry desserts. The plastic spoons served inside the candy-packed ice cream treats are wide and hollow — as if designed to double as a straw — but they’re also sealed off at the bottom.

“Have you ever wondered why you can’t actually drink out of a McFlurry spoon,” the user captioned her video, which has been viewed more than 3.8 million times.

The TikToker goes on to show the entire process of preparing an Oreo McFlurry, revealing that the “straw” is actually designed to fit the chain’s mechanical mixers.

“If u didnt know, now u do,” marzpire wrote in her post.

The now-viral video received a wide range of responses, many from commenters who were shocked by the realization.

“I know for a fact EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has had a Mcflurry for the first time has tried to drink it out if the spoon,” one commenter wrote.

“Well that explains it after all these years,” another added.

“I tried to use it as a flute now seeing this scars me,” another joked.

Others were less impressed, claiming that they had long been aware of the design’s purpose — and criticizing McDonald’s for failing to utilize it.

“I thought this was obvious,” one user commented.

“They’ve never mixed mine so i didn’t know this info until now,” another added.

“Okay but that doesnt mean it cant ALSO be a straw,” another wrote.
