This simple bolognese sauce goes well with pappardelle pasta

If you’re looking to level up your pasta game, this delicious bolognese sauce is a great recipe to have at your disposal. Consisting of diced vegetables, ground beef, and chopped tomatoes, among other tasty ingredients, this sauce tastes incredible with pappardelle pasta. Top off the pappardelle bolognese with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese and bon appétit! 

Ingredients

  • ½ onion, diced
  • 2 celery ribs, diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • Sprinkling of ground pepper
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup pasta water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions

  1. Add the extra virgin olive oil to a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, followed by the garlic, onion, celery ribs, and carrot, then cook until the vegetables begin to soften. 
  1. Add the ground beef to the Dutch oven and mix it with the vegetables until halfway cooked. 
  1. Mix in the kosher salt, followed by the ground pepper, then pour the red wine into the Dutch oven and combine it with the ingredients until the mixture comes to a boil.  
  1. Pour in the whole milk and combine with the rest of the ingredients before mixing in the chopped San Marzano tomatoes
  1. Mix in the bay leaf and Parmesan cheese rind, then leave the Dutch oven uncovered and cook for 2 hours on low heat. 
  1. After cooking, remove the bay leaf before adding the pasta water, followed by the unsalted butter. 
  2. Once thoroughly combined, serve up with a plate of cooked pappardelle pasta before topping it off with shredded parmesan cheese.
