Watching influencer drama unfold can feel like watching a reality TV show — and that’s probably why we can’t help but tune in. And when it comes to TikTok, there’s no shortage of controversy and chaos.
Once famous TikTok users started moving into mansions together to form collectives like Hype House and Sway House, it was only a matter of time before things got messy. These are the most controversial stars on TikTok — and let’s just say, they’ve done some things
1. Tony Lopez
Hype House member Tony Lopez is a 21-year-old Las Vegas native with 22.8 million followers on TikTok as of writing. Over the summer, Lopez was accused by several girls of flirting and soliciting nude photos from them when they were underage. Women continue to come forward with accusations against the influencer. He also has tweeted racist, sexist and homophobic comments.
2. Nessa Barrett
Nessa Barrett is a 17-year-old TikToker known for lip-syncing and dancing. Barrett previously dated Josh Richards, a member of Sway House. In March, she received criticism after dancing to a recitation from the Quran, an act many Muslims found offensive.
“I am truly and deeply sorry to those that I have hurt and offended,” she said in an apology video.
3. Bryce Hall
Bryce Hall, one of the bad boys of TikTok, is a Sway House resident who is currently dating TikTok sweetheart Addison Rae (that could change at literally any moment, though). He is notably banned from Playlist Live, an influencer convention, because he peed off the balcony of a hotel lobby when he attended in 2017. He was also accused of infidelity by Tana Mongeau, has been in street fights and drew controversy when he continued to party — and got in trouble with the police for it — during the pandemic.
4. Bella Poarch
Bella Poarch is a 19-year-old TikTok lipsyncer with over 40 million followers. However, many people question if Poarch is “real.” Users speculate she is using a fake name and can’t find evidence of any internet presence from before 2020. Some people believe she is the product of a content marking scheme by the company BAS.media. Like others on this list, she has been accused of making an anti-Black racist comment and came under fire for having an offensive tattoo of Imperial Japan’s war flag from World War II.
5. Jake Paul
Jake Paul is better known as a YouTuber, but his TikTok has 11.7 million followers. And the social media star is no stranger to controversies. He made a diss track about his ex Alissa Violet, got fired from his Disney Channel series “Bizaardvark” because of the bad behavior, scammed his impressionable fans out of tons of money, made racist comments, was caught looting at a Black Lives Matter protest and held a massive party during the pandemic — to name a few major scandals.
6. Chase Hudson aka Lil Huddy
Chase Hudson is the 18-year-old co-founder of Hype House. While dating TikTok star Charli D’Amelio, Josh Richards dropped a diss track accusing Hudson of sending nude photos to Richards’ then-girlfriend Nessa Barrett. D’Amelio and Hudson later split, but Hudson didn’t go down without a fight. On July 6, 2020, he revealed that a slew of other TikTokers were also cheating on each other. They aired his dirty laundry, so he aired theirs.
7. Tana Mongeau
Tana Mongeau is always knee-deep in drama. Mostly known for her YouTube channel, Mongeau has a TikTok following of 4.7 million. She was caught partying during the pandemic and has a long history of racist behavior.
