Jackie Hartlaub (@lowcarbstateofmind) is a TikTok chef who shares low-carb recipes and cooking tips on her TikTok account. Hartlaub recently shared a genius cooking hack that might just change the way you cook hard-boiled eggs forever. The hack? Skip the water and use an air fryer!
To hard-boil the eggs, Hartlaub places them in the air fryer, then cooks them for 15 minutes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Once they are cooked, she then places them in an ice bath for five minutes to quickly cool them down. Then, once the eggs are cool, she peels them using a spoon.
“I know there are a few different ways people like to peel these,” she explains. “I like to take a small spoon and use the back of it to crack it all the way around. I just find a spot I can get the spoon under the skin, and it’ll just fall right off.”
Finally, Hartlaub seasons the eggs with everything bagel seasoning and digs in.
‘Saves so much time’
Hartlaub’s super simple recipe hack was a hit with TikTokers.
“Just did this and will never make them any other way again!” one appreciative viewer wrote.
“Just for anyone wondering, it 100% works. I did it this morning. Legit took me 20 minutes to complete it all. Saves so much time,” another viewer responded.
Other viewers, however, were skeptical of the hack.
“Why do I refuse to believe this? Thinking they will explode and this is a prank,” one TikToker wrote.
“This sounds too good to be true… but everything I’ve tried of yours is gold, so I must believe!” another viewer responded.
“I prefer doing them in the Instant Pot. I’ve tried both ways and the Instant Pot is amazing!” suggested another TikToker.
Ultimately, there’s no right or wrong way to cook hard-boiled eggs. Water, an Instant Pot and an air fryer can all be used to make perfect hard-boiled eggs, and home chefs should use whichever method works best for them!
