Currently, Finn Wolfhard is ruling the platform with a snap transition meme. Users are going through some of the most popular aesthetic changes in recent memory and using Wolfhard walking to the camera. Before that, TikTok revived the Zoolander “I’m not your bro” scene.
These trends are different in several aspects but have one thing in common: They have the same song in the background. TikTok managed to keep the same song trending for nearly two months now behind the strength of these creators’ content.
The song that’s been running TikTok all this time is “Party Party (Give It to Me)” by YAZZY. It uses a pulsing bassline over pitched-up vocals to create the perfect backdrop for a meme. The song is a sample of superstar producer Timbaland’s “Give It to Me”. The specific version you hear on TikTok is available on YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify.
The song features Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado — who sings the chorus — and peaked at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for two weeks in 2007.
Timbaland and Furtado had success prior to “Give It to Me”, with “Promiscuous Girl” also reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the summer of 2006.
TikTok is having a moment with Timbaland, one of the biggest producers of the mid-2000s. Not only are “Give It to Me” and “Promiscuous Girl” trending, but we can’t forget about the “Say It Right” era on TikTok.
Users have fallen in love with sped-up versions of Timbaland and Furtado collaborations in the past. With the two having an illustrious and successful history, don’t be surprised if you hear them again on your “For You” page.
