Tom Felton just watched Harry Potter for the first time in 20 years.
Felton is known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series. The 33-year-old was around 13 when he portrayed the titular star’s nemesis in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first of the eight-film saga.
The actor treated fans to an Instagram Live of himself reacting to the first 11 minutes and 11 seconds of the movie on a laptop.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen this — I’ve never seen this footage, since the premiere. I have no idea what’s going on, it’s fantastic,” Felton told fans in the video. “I’m watching it for the first time really.”
He planned to discuss the film as he watched, but the footage instead prompted him to cry.
“It’s mental,” Felton said. “I’m just tearing up rather than giving you commentary, but it will get better.”
Felton ended up becoming engrossed in the film, going well over the 11-minute mark to watched nearly a half-hour.
Earlier this year, the actor hosted a virtual Harry Potter reunion for charity with costars including Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Jason Isaacs. The cast alluded to more 20-year anniversary celebrations in the future.
“It seems impossible that all that time has passed and it all obviously feels very fresh still cause they were my formative years,” Radcliffe said at the reunion, according to People. “It has been amazing to watch the whole thing continue to grow after the films finished.”
