Similar to every other city-living-millennial, I have a deep found love for Trader Joe’s and their products. Quite honestly, you cannot beat the creativity, uniqueness and price point that you find in there.
Since the options truly are endless, and it can seem incredibly overwhelming to know which products are actually worth it for a TJ’s newbie. To help, I’ve done my part in trying as many of the TJ snacks as possible to let you know which are definitely worth the hype. Here are some of my absolute top picks.
Chips, crackers, etc.
Chips In A Pickle: This is a fairly recent addition to the Trader Joe’s lineup — and one I hope never disappears. As a pregnant woman, these things are addicting beyond belief. Obviously, you must be a fan of pickles to enjoy these chips, but I also want to highlight the dill aspect, because they are definitely dill heavy. If you’re someone, like me, who vibes with dill and all things pickles, I highly suggest you stock up on these. A bag will be gone before you know it.
Organic Popcorn With Olive Oil: I pour this large bag into a storage container and have it sitting on our kitchen counter at all times, because it is truly one of my favorite things in this world. I can honestly say I’ve never had better popcorn.
Oven Baked Cheese Bites: This is another new addition to the TJ’s lineup — and my new favorite crunch factor for salads, snacks or cheese boards. With the cheesy flavor punch and the crunchiness of a thick cracker, these are a definite must have.
Ghost Pepper Potato Chips: I love spicy things, and these chips have the perfect kick without being too overpowering. Plus, the chips themselves are rippled (a huge plus for me) and perfectly cooked. They’re crunchy, but don’t taste overdone or burnt.
Cowboy Caviar: Of all the salsas Trader Joe’s offers, this is hands down my favorite. Loaded with beans, corn and flavor, this salsa is not only perfect for chips and dipping, but also for breakfast egg scrambles.
Chunky Guacamole: I will venture to say that this is the best store-bought guacamole I’ve ever had. I know, bold statement, but I swear by this guacamole. The combination of fresh avocado chunks and greek yogurt for extra creaminess is just so spot on. I could eat an entire container in one sitting (and have…).
Buffalo Style Chicken Dip: Although I’m not a huge buff-chick person (I know — gasp!), this is a dip I can get behind. Thanks to my husband’s obsession of this flavor combination, we grabbed it one trip and quickly became huge fans. It’s perfect for dipping with your favorite cracker, chip or sliced vegetable (bell pepper, carrot, cucumber, etc.). We have had debates over whether it is better served cold or heated up and, after lots of research and back and forth, we came to the conclusion that a bit of time in the microwave brings out the best of this dip.
Soft And Juicy Dried Mango: I find dried fruit to be hit or miss and, while the majority of the TJ options are great, there are still some dried fruit products of theirs that just don’t do it for me. The soft and juicy dried mango, however, is an absolute staple of mine and something I always have on hand. It is the perfect combination dried yet still juicy — and sweet but not too candy-like.
Chomps: If you’re a jerky person, do not sleep on these. They’re a more flavorful — and real ingredient-focused — take on a Slim-Jim. I wish I was kidding when I said I have one of these on me at all times when I leave the apartment. My personal favorite is the jalapeño beef stick!
Desserts and treats:
Crispy Peanut Butter Filled Milk Chocolate Peanuts: Addicting is an understatement when it comes to this product. Think of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but better. Shaped like peanuts in a shell, this chocolate covered peanut butter treat is the perfect blend of my favorite combination — peanut butter and chocolate — with an additional crunch from the crispy rice.
Hold The Cone Mini Ice Cream Cones: If you’re an ice cream lover like myself, these will not last long in your home. They’re the perfect mini ice cream cone for a post lunch or dinner dessert that has a crunchy chocolate-filled cone, deliciously creamy ice cream and a hard shell on top. They come in multiple flavors, but my favorite is the original vanilla ice cream flavor.
Gone Bananas: Frozen chocolate covered banana slices… need I say more!? Dipped in peanut butter, there is truly nothing better.
