A stepmom got the surprise of her life when her stepdaughters made an adoption proposal.
The tearjerking moment was shared on TikTok by @gabbyruvolo, one of the daughters. Over a decade ago, she and her twin sister’s dad got remarried. After the years went by it became clear to the twins that they needed to make things more official with their stepmother.
“After 12 years we finally asked our stepmom to adopt us,” the daughter’s caption read.
The twins had written the special request for their stepmom to read as a surprise. When the mom got to the big question, she burst into tears.
“Really?” she asked, then she cried with her head in her hands. “Of course I will. I’d be honored.”
“Well, good,” one daughter joked.
Emotions ran high as the trio went in for a group hug and tearfully embraced one another.
The touching video received over 5.2 million views on TikTok.
“I asked my step-dad to adopt me too! he had always wanted it but wanted it to be my choice!” someone said. The twins replied, “Congratulations! That’s exactly how our mom felt too, and it’s more special when the kid asks.”
“At that moment she knew all her work and love paid off,” a person wrote.
“I’m adopted and it is such a beautiful blessing! You’re amazing for stepping up for them and being the mom they needed,” another commented.
