Amazingly delicious ube recipes on TikTok

Ube, also known as purple sweet potato or purple yams, is an eye-catching Southeast Asian staple. Whether you’re a first-timer or bona fide ube fan, the purple tuber is taking over TikTok with a vibrant variety of recipes. Ube’s sweet flavor makes it an ideal dessert ingredient, while its natural violet hue makes it incredibly photogenic. From brownies to lattes, here are five fantastic ube-inspired recipes that are anything but basic!

1. Ube brownies

This ube recipe definitely scores brownie points! Begin making the brownie batter by combining melted butter, brown sugar, an egg and ube flavoring with a mix of all-purpose flour and baking powder. Next, pour the batter into a baking tray before popping it in the oven at 320 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Once baked, slice the brownies into squares before serving.

2. Ube Rice Krispies treats

This ube Rice Krispies treat recipe is colorful and delicious. Start by melting butter and mini marshmallows in a heated skillet. Next, add some ube extract followed by Rice Krispies cereal. Then thoroughly combine with the butter and marshmallows. Finally, scoop the Rice Krispies into a mold of your choice and let cool.

3. Ube iced latte

Coffee fans will enjoy this recipe a “latte!” First, add some ube cream — made from a mixture of coconut milk, sugar, vanilla extract, ube extract and evaporated milk — to a glass. Next, add ice, followed by your choice of milk before topping it off with espresso. Gently stir before serving and enjoy!

4. Ube soufflé pancakes

Start your day on the right foot with these ube pancakes! Begin by whisking together egg yolks, milk and ube extract in a bowl. Next, sift in flour and baking powder. Then thoroughly combine. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with sugar before adding the mix to the other ingredients. Scoop the batter into parchment paper molds on a heated skillet. Then, add some water to the pan before placing a lid on top. Finally, flip the pancakes until they’re cooked through and top with whipped cream, raspberries and a drizzle of condensed milk.

5. Ube fried mochi

Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, this mochi recipe is packed with sweet ube flavor! First, mix together mochiko flour (sweet rice flour), sugar, ube halaya (ube jam), ube extract and water in a bowl until smooth. Next, add scoops of batter into a pot of boiling oil and fry for four to five minutes. Remove the mochi balls, and place them on a wire rack to drain any excess oil. Finally, coat them in sugar before serving.
