You can now unsend those Instagram messages that should have stayed in the drafts.
Drake famously said, “trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers,” and it couldn’t be more true. In the heat of the moment, you may feel like hitting send on a spicy direct message only to regret it seconds later. While you can always delete a tweet, you could never take back a DM on Instagram — at least, not until now.
How to unsend Instagram direct messages
Instagram Direct has a new feature that allows you to take back what you just said.
Luckily, the process is fairly simple. After you send a message, press on the message to prompt an options menu to come up. You’ll see a few emojis that you can react to the message with, but there are few actions you can take, too. “Reply,” “Unsend” and “More” should appear at the bottom of the screen. Just hit “Unsend” and your spicy direct message should disappear.
However, it’s important to note that if the person you’re messaging with has notifications on, they’ll get one that tells them a message was unsent.
If the person has already seen the message, then it will just be deleted. They’ll also be notified that you removed the message in the chat.
While it’s not a perfect system, it might be handy for people who don’t want all their chat conversations screenshotted.
