When it comes to gaming, snacking is a must. Whether you’re battling it out with friends, or on a single-player journey, gamers are bound to work up an appetite. But while gaming snacks provide fuel, they can make a big mess of your gaming rig and result in a gamer’s worst nightmare: a greasy controller. Luckily, on this episode of Game On, host DJ Steph (@djstephcakes) chats with streamer Melonie Mac (@meloniemac) to talk all things gaming snacks. Melonie shares her go-to gaming fuel, and drops her tips for snacking while gaming.
A good feature of a gaming snack is that it’s controller-friendly. Finger foods like Too Good Gourmet Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Keto Crisp Cookies or Off The Eaten Path Chickpea Veggie Crisps make great gaming snacks for this reason because they don’t require having to set down your controller in order to shovel in a spoonful or forkful of food.
For Melonie, a lot of her gaming snacks are grab-and-go. “I actually eat more of a ketogenic-style diet, so a lot of my snacks are just like, cheese sticks, pepperoni, [or] dehydrated meat crisps,” shares the streamer.
A hard-to-spill, portable drink also makes great gaming fare. “I like to drink G FUEL a lot,” shares Melonie. “[It] doesn’t have any sugar in it so it won’t kick me out of ketosis, but I’m still getting that nice, sweet flavor that I like to have.”
With the snacks secured, Melonie shares her best tips for snacking while gaming. She explains that if you’re playing a competitive game, it might be best to wait between sessions to get your fuel in. That way you don’t end up distracted or making a mess.
If you’re playing a single-player game, Melonie recommends using snacks as motivation. “That might be a good reward for you when you get to a save point,” advises the streamer.
With the perfect gaming snacks on deck and the right strategy to eat them, you’ll beat the high score in no time.
