The modern home aesthetic is one that’s been sought after for years, with many aiming to upgrade their living spaces with a touch of elegance and unforced flare. While this remains one of the leading “looks” that home and apartment dwellers seek to achieve, the steep prices that usually accompany these “modern” pieces can be pretty daunting.

Luckily, the folks at Allocacoc have created a tabletop lamp that not only fits within the guidelines of this niche aesthetic but is also modestly priced.

The Heng Balance Lamp comes in five configurations and sizes with the smallest retailing at only $25.

Although they differ in size, each model operates exactly the same, and its performance is unlike anything you’ve seen before. While most standard lamps come equipped with a simple “on/off” switch or dial, these contemporary table lamps are designed with a unique magnetic sphere “switch.”

The winner of the 2016 Reddot Design Award, this lamp turns on when the two dangling magnetic spheres are attached. All users need to do is simply pull the lower sphere upwards, balancing the two, and the glowing will begin.

“The mid-century modern look adds a touch of zen wherever you need a gentle and soothing lamp,” the product’s description reads.

Adding to its modern flare, this light emits a warm LED glow that’s easy on the eyes. The embedded lights are described to be “bright enough to be used as a book-reading light by the bed but also dim enough to be a small night-light lamp.”

Further contributing to its versatility, the lamp is USB-powered, meaning it is not confined to a standard three-prong wall outlet. Rather, it can be plugged into a wide variety of outlets and adapters ranging from wall outlets to computers.

With the available assortment of sizes and colors for the Heng Balance Lamps, they are said to be particularly perfect for placement on bedroom nightstands, office/study desks, end tables, side tables or even dressers.

Shoppers are particularly impressed with the beauty and elegance of this lamp. One five-star reviewer gushed that the lamp changed the style of “the entire room.”

“This lamp is so beautiful, modern [and] is art itself,” the shopper wrote. “I feel everything in the room has been upgraded. The light is so soft and warm, it won’t be too bright or dark which makes the room feel cozy.”

Another shopper dished on the materials the product is made of, adding, “Although the black lamp is plastic, it is not cheap looking. Will serve as a great night lamp.”

Providing a lighting reference, the shopper also added that it “gives off a soft warm glow similar to a 40-watt incandescent bulb.”

One of the only gripes shoppers had with the lamp, or rather its package contents, is that it does not come with a charger plug or adapter. So it’s recommended that you purchase one separately or plug the device directly into a USB outlet.

“Got the ‘Dyson style’ lamp a few days ago. The lamp looks great, nice color,” one reviewer explained. “Best design. It’s worth the price. The only thing is it doesn’t come with a charger plug cub, just USB.”

The same shopper stressed, however, that they are “satisfied and happy” with the purchase.
