Viral floating boat template gets reinvented with laughing kid

The viral floating boat meme that dominated TikTok at the end of 2022 has returned. The look and format of the meme are fairly similar, but there’s a big difference this time — a baby is on the boat.

When the trend first started, users were inserting themselves onto the boat with either a still or moving cutout with a funny caption based on where the hypothetical raft was taking them.

our water heater broke n my dad knew they were gonna come n fix it in like 20 minutes but he didn’t tell my mom so she would take a cold shower 😂🤦🏽‍♀️ #theaguilars #couplegoals #dadsoftiktok

The meme is easy to understand and to create, which makes its comeback not too surprising.

Now, even though the boat meme is trending again, TikTokers are using this template to make jokes about fake crying.

“One thing they ain’t gonna do is stress me out back to back days,” said @stillretro.

The young kid, who switches from crying to laughing in an instant, is already viral prior to this meme. TikToker @musa._gk posted the video of the child — which is the cutout for the boat meme — and received over 34 million views on that post. The audio from that post has over 80,000 videos attached to it.

Users have had a ball going from tears of sadness to laughter in an instant.

“Makes her even more mad at u,” said @lokitacastillo47.

Although this trend has a new twist, it is still using the same CapCut template. Currently, there are over 17 million uses on the template.

Even though there are different sounds associated with the template, most notably “My Heart Will Go On (Titanic)” by Maliheh Saeedi & Faraz Taali, every video is connected by the same backdrop and tiny raft.
