These ‘cute’ Disney princess masks are actually a nightmare when put on adults

Today in abject nightmare fuel — a TikToker demonstrated that a seemingly cute children’s face mask doesn’t look so adorable on a larger adult face.

The shopper in question, named Joe, shared a video on Oct. 12 of himself modeling a Little Mermaid neck gaiter his wife got him from Walmart.

“So my wife was at Walmart and she saw these and thought, ‘Whoa, these would be fun to buy. Do you want one?'” he joked in the clip, which has since been viewed over 4.5M times. “And I said, ‘Yeah, sure, do they have Ariel? Because I would love to be as pretty as a princess.'”

Joe then pans to a mirror selfie of himself wearing the gaiter, which has Ariel’s red lips plastered across it. The cartoon mouth might look cute on a child, but on a full-grown man, the stretched-out lips are truly the stuff of nightmares.

“So, am I as pretty as a princess?” he asks.

TikTokers were terrified by the final product, with some comparing the look to a scene from a horror movie.

“I’m laughing now but will have nightmares later,” one user wrote.

“Well guess I’m not sleeping tonight,” said another.

“My brain instantly heard the Purge sirens,” noted a third.

“Those masks are very unsettling,” another added.

Joe also shared similar TikToks of himself sporting a Mickey Mouse gaiter and an Elsa gaiter. Both are pretty unsettling, but not quite to the same degree.

“I wanted to see if I could be as pretty as a princess, let’s see if I can be as beautiful as a queen,” he says while holding a mask depicting the Frozen ice queen’s face.

“Ok, I like it,” he said. “It’s not bad.”

“But still,” he added, cutting to a clip of himself in the Ariel mask. “This is my favorite one.”

Yikes. Let’s leave these for the kids.
