A faux fur throw blanket is the perfect accessory to elevate your space. It strikes the right balance between aesthetically pleasing and practical. In addition to serving as a luxe decor piece, it’s also a convenient and useful item, especially during the colder months.

Those who’ve owned faux fur throw blankets know that they’re not all made equally. Budget options tend to shed and thin over time, resulting in a shaggy mess in a matter of months. West Elm, however, has found the perfect recipe with its standard and oversized faux fur throws. They’re premium, plush and extremely long-lasting.

I’m not just pulling this assessment out of thin air. I’ve owned the oversized West Elm Faux Fur Ombre Throw in Mocha for over four years, and it’s held up excellently with no signs of shedding or fading.

The rich mocha color has remained robust for all these years, and the long, silky fibers remain soft to this day. In fact, I loved the blanket so much that, after moving at the beginning of 2021, I purchased a second one in the brand’s beautiful Feather Gray color.

The standard-sized West Elm Faux Fur Ombre Throws are on sale for $89 and are 47 inches wide and 60 inches long. The oversized throws are $71 off, retailing for $149, and are 60 inches wide and 80 inches long.

These blankets are beautiful to look at and have a substantial weight that feels like a hug when tossed across your body. But what I love most about these blankets — particularly the oversized ones — is that they cover my entire 6-foot-2 frame, from the top of my neck to the bottom of my feet.

Most tall folks can attest that the majority of throw blankets on the market aren’t created with taller buyers in mind. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could cover my entire body, fully stretched out, in this blanket and still have more available blanket real estate left.

Another sign that these West Elm faux fur throw blankets are worth the investment is their realistic design — they actually look and feel like real fur!

These are perfect for layering on beds, sofas and chairs and are must-haves for those winter evenings while you binge your favorite shows with a cozy beverage.

Shop now while the oversized throws are still on sale.
