A Twitter poll has the internet in a tizzy over “the stupidest debate” about doors and wheels.
Sometimes someone on social media will pose a question so unusual people just can’t help but obsess over it. Now people are determined to figure out the answer to another impossibly silly viral question: are there more doors or wheels in the world?
“My mates and I are having the stupidest debate. And I am here for it. Do you think there are more doors or wheels in the world?” user Ryan Nixon wrote in a tweet.
His poll received 223,347 votes. The final verdict was 53.6% chose wheels, while 46.4% picked doors.
Team Wheels
People on Team Wheels believe that while usually only machines have wheels, there are just lots and lots of machines. They take into consideration all of the real and toy cars out there, along with rollerblades, shopping carts, bicycles, scooters and luggage. Then of course there are all the metal cogs in machinery and equipment that we may not see on a regular basis.
“I think shopping carts alone make wheels win. I’ve been crunching numbers… my household has 26 doors, including vehicles, two lawnmowers, a wheelbarrow, blah, blah, blah. A large shopping center must have like 3000 wheels. It’s not close,” @buzzkill45 said in a tweet.
“Originally I was Team Wheels but I just read a comment about how many doors skyscrapers, hotels and apartment buildings have. Now I don’t know what to believe but I think I’m still team wheels because think of all the little toy Hot Wheels cars that exist,” @jalogann said on TikTok.
Team Doors
People on Team Doors believe that there are numerous things that could be considered a door, whereas a wheel is always a wheel. A door isn’t just something you walk through, it’s also any hinged enclosure. So cabinets, fridges, closets, caskets, vehicles, boats, planes — they all have doors.
“In my household, there are 29 doors (including fridge, cupboards, washing machine, tumble dryer and car) Got four wheels on my car and the hamster has a wheel, can’t think of any more wheels. I’m saying doors,” @matthewdaubney said on Twitter.
“I was team wheels but like post offices?! Like, there are tons of little doors in there, mailboxes are technically little doors. Yeah, I get Hot Wheels but there has to be more doors. Think of apartment complex’s mailboxes, Amazon lockers. Actual lockers? Advent calendars?” @maggieesparks said in a TikTok video.
