While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are still a few months away, Amazon is kicking the holiday season off early with a second Prime Day!

Yep, you read that right. Amazon’s Prime Day Early Access Sale is being held from October 11 – 12 and is bringing Prime members a boatload of incredible deals just like the ones you shopped for this summer. Similarly to the Prime Day you already know and love, you need a Prime membership to shop this sale — but signing up (and taking advantage of the 30-day trial) couldn’t be easier.

With markdowns on name-brand electronics, top fashion picks, home must-haves and more, this sale is not one to skip. After all, who wants to do all of their holiday shopping stressed out in December? Not us!

If you could use a little guidance on what’s worth a buy and what you should hold off on during the Prime Day Early Access Sale, deal destination RetailMeNot’s shopping expert Kristin McGrath is here to shed some light.

What to buy during Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale, according to a shopping expert

  1. Toys: “We expect to see a lot of toy deals included in this sale. Toys are a purchase you don’t want to wait to buy at this time of year, so early sales are key opportunities to get the hottest toys of the season, before they sell out. If you see a toy marked down and it’s on your list, we recommend adding it to your cart.”
  2. Any holiday must-have: “For the most part, we expect to see similar deals on top holiday gift purchases like speakers, headphones and TVs during this pre-Black Friday sale as we will see during Black Friday. If anything, we think the discount might be deeper during Black Friday. However, on a similar note to toys, if there is a must-have item on your list, buy it during this sale and don’t risk it running out of stock. When it comes to apparel and accessory purchases, this is particularly important, as sizes and colors will sell out.”
  3. Gift cards: “As long as you know you’ll use the gift card or your giftee will use it, always act on a gift card deal. Even if a gift card you buy during this pre-Black Friday sale ends up being discounted even deeper during Black Friday (which isn’t likely), you still got free money from your purchase of the $30 gift card for $20 (for example). Plus, you can use these gift cards in your upcoming holiday shopping or outings like going to the movies or a restaurant.”

What to avoid during Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale, according to a shopping expert

  1. Tech: “If you have tech purchases on your holiday wish list, wait it out until Cyber Week if you can. Items like laptops, computers and TVs will see the best discounts down the line starting Black Friday week into Cyber Monday. Make sure to earmark these items on your wish list to track pricing and be alerted when the deals hit.”
