Woman finds her 10-year-old love letter to high school boyfriend at Goodwill: ‘Yikes’

A woman found artwork she made her high school boyfriend a decade ago at Goodwill. The love note written inside made her cringe.

Kaylee Powell is a stained glass artist. While she was shopping at Goodwill one day, she found an old heart-shaped art piece she had given her ex. Powell noticed that someone had painted over the letter she had written him on the back of it. So she took the artwork home and removed the paint to uncover her 10-year-old message.

It took some experimenting, but Powell was able to remove the paint by scraping it off. Then, she read the letter.

“I honestly cannot believe that it’s only been a couple of weeks,” the letter stated. “The memories we’ve made, the mornings we’ve shared and the love I’ve gained are priceless. I really don’t know what you see in me. I don’t know why you care but I am just so glad that you’ve found something you find worthwhile in me. I am so glad and thankful I can call you mine. I hope we have a thousand more anniversaries after this. I hope that this is the end of my old life and the start of my new one.”

“Yikes,” Powell interjected. But there was still more to the lengthy love letter.

“I love you more than words could ever say and I hope that will never change,” it read. “You are my beacon of salvation, the stars in my night sky and my best friend. I love you, Kaylee. Sorry, I had to share my feels.”

Powell had mixed feelings about the unexpected find.

“Reading this, I find the entire thing to be really cringey but also very funny, so it kind of balances out,” she said. “It’s nice to have a relic of the past. It’s nice a reminder of how awful high school was but how much I love doing stained glass.”

The video received 6.5 million views on TikTok

“The secondhand embarrassment is real,” someone commented

“I was cringing through the entire thing but the BEACON OF SALVATION TOOK ME OUT,” another joked

“Listening to that makes me glad I’m not a teenager anymore,” a person said
