On this episode of In The Know: Find My Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) helps Monica make her return to NYC after moving back in with her parents in Maryland during the pandemic. Monica is seeking a two-bedroom apartment along with her best friend, and she would love a spacious, natural light-filled unit in Lower Manhattan at a budget of between $3,500 and $4,000. Can Will help Monica find the perfect spot for her grand return to the Big Apple? Let’s find out!
The first apartment Will shows Monica is a two-bedroom apartment budgeted at $4,100 a month. The spacious unit has enough space to entertain, along with high ceilings and a healthy flow of natural light. The kitchen is a little small, but there is a dishwasher which is a nice plus. Monica also loves the large bedrooms, which each have plenty of closet space.
Apartment #2 is a two-bedroom unit priced at $3,100 a month. The apartment is significantly under Monica’s budget, and the prospective tenant loves the nice-sized kitchen which includes a dishwasher. However, the modest living space isn’t ideal for hosting, which is a priority for Monica. And the bedrooms, while nicely designed, are smaller than those at the previous unit.
Next, Will shows Monica a three-bedroom apartment with a monthly rent of $4,200. The unit features two bathrooms, as well as a spacious living and dining space that’s flooded with natural light. The apartment also has an in-unit washer and dryer, and there’s even a private roof deck! At $4,200 a month, the unit is over Monica’s budget, but because the unit has three bedrooms, Monica and her friend would have the option to bring in a third roommate.
One month later, Monica reveals that she has decided to put her apartment search on hold for now. That being said, thanks to Will, she now has a stronger idea of what she’s looking for once she decides to resume her search.
